Thankful. Being thankful. Giving thanks. For what? To whom? Do I have to pray? Can’t I just eat turkey, watch a parade, shop online and call it a good day off from work?
Ha. Yes, you can. I can. We can.
But. Gratitude is so much better. Taking pause to give thanks, genuine thanks, is so much more uplifting.
This is one post I am not going to agonize over, edit and re-edit like 25 times. (Yes, I do that.) I am simply going to take a few minutes to be thankful for the good and bad in my life. Here goes:
A Prayer of Thanksgiving
Dear Lord,
For the ability to get out of bed this morning, even though it hurt,
I give you thanks.
For the food I was able to purchase with that crazy crowd at the grocery store yesterday,
I give you thanks.
For the family and friends I will get to hug today and share a meal with,
I give you thanks.
For my husband who sure puts up with a lot being married to me,
I give you thanks and praise.
For a job that truly keeps me humble when I see how good I actually have it,
I give you thanks and praise.
For all that I don’t have and wish I did,
I give you thanks and praise.
For these are the things that cause me to keep my eyes on you, and know what matters the most.
For this I am grateful.
I give you thanks and praise.
You have made me just as I am, and given me what you see fit for me to have,
For this I am grateful,
To you, Lord, I lift up my thanks and praise.
Amen.
That’s it, and yet there is so much more. Please feel free to join in, with your comments and thoughts of thanksgiving and praise.
Much love to you this Thanksgiving Day~
Carolyn
“Life isn’t easy. Together we can make it better.”
Yes. Counting my blessings and giving thanks to our God always works for me.
Thank you Carolyn.
Happy Thanksgiving Carolyn! I am celebrating God, family and my dear mom who is not with us on this earth but is with us certainly in spirit.
Same to you, Cindy! We have much to be thankful for, especially the dear memories of loved ones who’ve gone before us. Blessings to you. <3
