Well, I did it. No, I didn’t get a dog. The pic of my granddog is just for attention. But I do have the time to watch him more often now.
Because…
I resigned and retired from my job of 32 years.
Ok, it was a number of months ago, but I needed some time to process, let it sink in and believe it’s real…
That…
I don’t have to go to work anymore!
This is not to say I’m never going to work a formal job again. I may, I may not. Choices. There are choices.
But for now, I’m free. FREE!
I loved my job. I did. But there comes a time when you think you just might not be up for this anymore.
It was a good run. I believe I was able to make a difference in many people’s lives while they were under my care, even possibly saving a few.
Retiring early was never on my agenda. But healthcare has changed, the demands are higher, and my mind, body and emotions weren’t quite up to the pace.
Ok. I burned out.
But I gave it my all while I was in, and when I felt I couldn’t, I decided that was enough.
It was my calling, but now other things are calling. I retired from my regular job, but I didn’t retire from life or serving others.
I’m working on some new ideas, a new lifestyle, a new purpose. My overall goal is still the same- to serve God by loving others and doing my best to encourage them.
A lot of that will come through writing. I have decided to continue the path of freelance writing and copywriting.
Because…
I have a lot to say! Stories to tell. Experiences I can use to help others.
How about you? If you are retired, or may be soon, please share your thoughts and experiences. I’d love to hear about them and how your life is different now.
~Carolyn
Enjoy your retirement. You deserve it!
Ah, thank you. 😊
Wonderful news! I’m excited to see how Father will bless you and others through this new season.
Thank you, Marlene. I miss you and hope to catch up soon.
Woo Hoo!! Enjoy your freedom!
I am! Thank you, Pam.
Carolyn, thank you so much for this! Mazel Tov in your retirement! You gave everything to care for the patients under your expert care, during the toughest time in Healthcare in decades. We are all grateful for not only your commitment to your job but to those in your care, which often includes us, your friends! I am so excited to see what is to come and to support you in anyway I can!!
Thank you, my friend. I know I can always count on you. :)
I’m so happy for you! First of all I thought I’d lost track of your blog, so I was happy to see this. And I want to encourage your writing. You write beautifully and I can only imagine the stories you have to share. Blessings in this new season!
It took a major lessening of family responsibilities before I was able to put enough time into my writing to finally finish and publish two children’s books: The Christmas Mummy, a picture book, and The Parasaurolophus Pizza Parlor, a chapter book. I love looking at my name on the covers!
Wow, how cool is that? I will check them out. So good to hear from you!
♥️ I love you sis, and I’m so happy for you! ♥️

Now start working on sleeping in later than 4:30am!
Ah, if only I could!
