Can You Pass This Love Test?

February. The month of love. It’s in the air- in decorations, songs, advertisements for gifts,  restaurant special menus, etc. You may have bought cards and made plans to show your  love to those who mean the most to you. But can you pass a simple love test?

It’s likely you’ve heard a reading from 1 Corinthians 13 at a wedding. Perhaps it was read at your own ceremony. But here’s the catch: if you insert your name wherever it references love in verses 4-7, how do you rate? Try it below.

_______ is patient,
_______ is kind.
_______ does not envy,
_______ does not boast,
_______ is not proud.
_______ is not rude,
_______ is not self-seeking,
_______ is not easily angered,
_______keeps no record of wrongs.
_______does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
_______ always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

This is a self-graded exam. Do you pass? I must say I don’t, not every day, anyway. Without a doubt, I could improve my love skills.

I aim to retake this test often, to remind myself of what true love is,  and how it behaves.

What do you think? Want to join me?

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!

Love,

Carolyn

  1. Hey Carolyn! Happy Valentine’s Day to you as well. Nope, did not pass, but Thank God for HIS grace and mercy every day! Amen?? I too, will be trying harder to at least get a “C”. Enjoy your Love Day!

  2. I have these hanging on the wall in my house, a treasured gift from you. I see it every day and strive to improve.

  3. Thankfully when we insert Jesus’ name in the blanks, He gets an “A”!
